One of my mentee asked, “how can I unleash this bubbling going on inside me”. Another made this statement, “last week when I spoke with you I feel awakened, like I have to give birth to something special”.
While this people don’t know each other they seem to be relaying the same message to me.
I want to say yes to purpose, yes to why I am alive. I don’t want my music to die inside. I want to align my life with the rhythm that I hear inside.
These observations got me curious and I asked myself some questions, what makes people resistant to change, what makes them dwell in their comfort zones and what prevents us from saying yes to our inner rhythms.
I discovered that by not nurturing a curious mind, we limit ourselves to the ocean of opportunities and possibilities that life presents. Then there is Fear. It raises its ugly head when we try to get out of our comfort zone. The paralytic nature of fear can be so adhering that until we learn to detach from its power. More frustrating is the risk averse nature of our societies. We want a well packaged, error free, no mistake process/journey. Will this be an environment that will make us bloom, flourish, embrace and unleash our YES/s? Far from it.
When we surrender to our Yes, then we remove labels(self-imposed or otherwise), become curious like children, authentic while being vulnerable and embrace the freedom to release our music.
So from my mentees, I learnt to

  • release my self imposed judgements and labels and stop feeeling like an imposter..
  • Embrace my fears they are worthy travel companions on my success journey.
  • Let go off pleasing people.
    -Where there is resistance, a yes is close by
  • Love life and others and allow life to love me in return.
  • I hold the keys to bring out my music and I will use them.

Therefore, like I told my mentees, let’s seize each day, make our lives count, live to our highest potential and live life to the fullest. Let’s not die with the music still inside!
